Job Description

The Director of Career Development for the Lawrence County Economic Growth Council (LCEGC) is responsible for coordination of the Lawrence County Education Coalition (a group of 60+ stakeholders interested in advancing lifelong learning and career attainment) and the career opportunities the Industry can provide. The Director of Career Development shall engage local stakeholders in the execution of career pathways and training opportunities for industry partners laid out by the Lawrence County Education Coalition and the LCEGC.  

Duties of the Position

·         Lead, plan, organize, direct and coordinate Lawrence County Education Coalition 
·         Provide management of programs in accordance with regulatory requirements and cooperative agreements of State and local grant sources
·         Cultivate and establish strategic partnerships to innovate, implement and fund new programs
·         Effectively manage and develop workforce and education programs throughout Lawrence County
·         Recruit and develop internship/apprenticeship programs with local partners
·         Promote and market State and local workforce development programs
·         Collaborate with high school, higher education, and industry to promote career awareness
·         Analyze and report outcomes of programs and adjust service delivery protocols to maximize the positive impact for persons served
·         Report outcomes to stakeholders including, education providers, LCEGC, and education coalition
·         Assist in the development and application of policies and procedures aligned with corporate values and best practices in vocational and career development

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
·         Ability to work with a high level of independence in non-routine, complex situations
·         Ability to communicate the mission and vision with internal and external audiences to compel action in support of organizational goals
·         Ability to embrace, encourage and work effectively with diverse populations
·         Ability to work flexible hours, meet deadlines, attend meetings and convene and facilitate groups

·         Bachelor’s degree or relevant work experience
·         Preference to candidates who have proven track record of collaboration, workforce development, education, or economic development
·         Understanding existing workforce programs and/or manufacturing experience is desirable
·         Successful experience designing and implementing programs
